Bodybuilding Cutting Phase

by sherif
(Los Angeles, California)

Question: Bodybuilding Cutting Phase... I just wanted to know exactly how a cutting phase (bodybuilding style) worked.

From what I understand, you pretty much have to continuously eat healthy and clean, obviously, as in bulking, but the difference, is cutting down carbs as to not exceed more than half of original Carb intake as in bulking.

Water intake remains adequate as in bulking and when eating your meals, the protein is the majority of the meal more than carbs and the fats. Cardio is to be done 4-5 days a week 45-1 hour with abs 3-4 times a week also done with high reps NO weight. Does this sound about right?

Also, right now in my bulking phase, I'm training 1 body part a week heavy 6-10 reps. In the cutting phase, would I still train 1 body part a week or would I switch over to training 2 bodyparts circuit style training to rev up my metabolism and help burn more fat?

What approach would be best for optimal fatloss and muscle gain? What is best Rep range for cutting phase?

Answer: First, we think you may have a misconception on bulking and cutting, and for this reason, we'd like recommend this short video:

Lean Hybrid Muscle

Okay...

When you are trying to cut, most bodybuilders lower their calories, but they try to continue lifting the same amount of weight.

"Would I still train 1 body part a week or would I switch over to training 2 bodyparts circuit style training to rev up my metabolism and help burn more fat?"

This is totally optional depending on what areas you want to improve.

"What approach would be best for optimal fatloss and muscle gain? What is best Rep range for cutting phase?"

Many factors to consider, such as body type and recovery speed... However, a rep range between 8 and 12 is a safe spot.

"Cutting down carbs as to not exceed more than half of original Carb intake as in bulking."

Mainly cut back on simple sugars. You still want to eat fruits and vegetables.

"Cardio is to be done 4-5 days a week 45-1 hour with abs 3-4 times a week also done with high reps NO weight. Does this sound about right?"

Doing more cardio will definitely help with your cutting phase.

Again, really truly consider this Lean Hybrid Muscle. It'll put you on the right path and answer a lot of questions you may have.
