No Muscle Soreness

by Charles
(United States)

Question: I'm deployed in Afghanistan right now, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to hit the gym very seriously to gain muscle mass, the problem is I've only been at it for about a week and I'm sorta confused.

Typically I would judge a workout routine on how sore I am the next day, however this is the first time I've used supplements to aid in my workouts and I'm not gaining any soreness the next day after my workout, hardly any bit at all.

I've been taking multivitamins, whey protein, a nitric oxide inhibitor and l-glucosamine.

I know some of these are advertised to assist in the recovery phase, but could it possibly be good enough to almost not feel any soreness the next day?

My workout routine is based on the Arnold Schwarzenegger workout and I work each workout usually 4-5 sets of 10-12 reps(was 4sets of 8-10reps at first) to where I end in muscle failure at the end of each set.

Am I working hard enough or is it that the supplements are doing their job that good?

Please advise cause I'm not sure to step it up or not because of the risk of overworking a muscle.

Answer: You can still achieve good muscle building results, even without the muscle soreness.

You may just have a faster recovery rate. That's a good thing!

The lack of soreness could be a combination of you having a fast recovery rate and the supplements you are taking.
