What To Eat Before A Workout

Whether you are doing cardio, weight training, or possibly even both together, you want to make sure that your body isn't loaded with a bunch of food before exercising.

This is just one of the reasons why many people prefer to workout in the morning... Or at least at the beginning of the day.

Now if you are a person who works out later in the day, because that's all you have time for, this is fine... Just make sure you wait 1 to 2 hours to workout after eating.

Why do I have to wait so long after eating?

When you are weight lifting or doing cardio exercises, you will want the body to devote most of its attention on the workout and not so much of its attention on the digestion of the food. When working out immediately after meals, you don't give the food enough time to digest. It's best to wait.

The food you eat before your workouts should be light, and small. Don't load up. Keep your meals small and simple. Save those bigger meals for after the workouts, when the body actually needs recovery.

Eat something like fruit or maybe a salad... Something simple and light.
